The Indian Public School – Cambridge International, Erode, launched its own chapter of Model United Nations under the name TIPSMUN-I on 26th January 2023 and hosted the conference on 27th and 28th January. We had Dr M Venkatachalam, IFS Officer, as Chief Guest and Dr P. Krishnamoorthy, Additional Director, NIPCCD, as Guest of Honour during the Launch and Opening Ceremony. The conference was attended by 120 student delegates from 9 schools. The TIPSMUN-I conference had three committees – UNHRC, SPECPOL & ECOFIN – and each focused on persisting global issues such as the rights of protesters, neocolonialism and digital currency on which the student delegates debated and reached common solutions by understanding different perspectives of the world countries. This is the first time that the conference was entirely hosted by the school community including the Student Chairs and Vice-Chairs, who presided over the three committees, from TIPS. The conference was a huge success with students gaining exposure to different perspectives on global issues and receiving awards during the closing ceremony.
